Minneapolis, MN -- In what authorities are describing as the hack of the decade, several members of a l33t h4ck3r group have defaced the web site of Twin Cities band Ike. The vandals, known only by their IRC handles "flipz" and "fuqrag", defaced the site over Halloween weekend, leading some to guess that it was just a holiday prank. Sources close to the reet haxors mentioned that it could have been "haqqed for cristyn." The Ike defacement is the latest in a spree of web site vandalism including well-known web presences such as Microsoft (MSFT:Nasdaq), Yahoo(YHO:NYSE) and several government and military information sites, y0h!@$!. "Y0h, these Ike lamers had it coming," one ereet source close to the Minneapolis music scene said. "Their page was like, so lame that this was an improvement." The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, went on to praise the new h4ck3d look of the site with its "_rad_ new l0g0" and "tr1ppy 3D cr4p." "I LUV DAT SEKSI FLIPZ AND FUQRAG!" shouted one of the source's friendz. "THEY 0wNz 7h3 1|\|t3r|\|37, y0h!@$!. Gr33ts to f0bic, vghk, and s0nik!!!!!! I told 1k3 to sekure that server, werdemup." The members of Ike, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed mixed feelings about the vandalism. "It looks absolutely beautiful," Lora Alexander, wife of anonymous Ike bassist said Monday, "nicely done." The Ike bassist had no comment. Anonymous Ike vocalist Erik Hallberg compared the haqqed site's design to that of artifical artist Chris Gaines. "It's just like I told Chris his site should look," the singer stated over several drinks. The rest of his comments were off the record. "I am not a hax0r," anonymous Ike guitarist and vocalist Richard Mueller said. "But I know a hax0r when I see one. And flipz and fuqrag are just script kiddiez." When asked to elaborate, Mueller speculated, "1 0wNz u. deth to JP, y0h!@$!." The 1k3 lEaD gUiTar1st and v0c4l1s7, reiterating that he would speak only on condition of an0nym1ty said, "I won't talk with you unless you keep my name out of this. Don't even mention my initials, which are JPW." "It looks OK, I guess. I don't know why we couldn't have just done this before," anonym0uS Ike drummer Pete McDonnell said Monday. "I didn't really know we had a web site until it got haqqed." Local authorities had no comment except to say that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was close to raiding the h4ck3rs' lair, believed to be somewhere in either Uzhbekhistan or Uptown.
