On Krak : The KrakaTome : 2007-05-10 mp3s 2007-05-10 mp3s We played a lot more songs we knew. Does that mean we know the new ones so well we don't need to practice? Monday, May 21 2007, 09:14 AM
It's been a while since the last practice, but finally I've found the time to put the last batch up. We did a lot of our original songs, a few covers, and all five of the new songs. All in all, a pretty typical practice.
A typical practice seems to be one where when we're all ready to start playing, we'll either jam out some random thing that sounds OK, or start in with something new and try to remember how it went. That's the warm up. Then if we're working on new stuff we'll spend ten to twenty minutes on it figuring out how it should go, and once we figure it out we play it once through and then move on. Once we get tired we start playing our favorites in no particular order and as our whims take us.
I remember a long time ago we used to have a rotating band leader and their job was to decide what songs we'd practice, the idea being that everyone would have a chance to work on their weaknesses. For some reason that was hard to maintain. I suspect that we've been playing for so long that we've developed a more zen approach in that whatever song starts we'll all just jump on and go. I wonder if we could play a show that way?
Anyway, here's the mp3s. Note that they all have working titles now, some of which may change as they get words.
