The KrakaTome
On Krak : The KrakaTome : No Escape No Escape Soon Krakathoom will be everywhere. Submit or perish. Tuesday, May 14 2002, 05:46 PM
Its an exciting time to be in Krakathoom. Things are coming together that will allow us to play for a wider audience, giving our music a chance to reach literally dozens of new fans. Here are the various aspects of our upcoming three-pronged push towards total cultural saturation of Krakathoom:
1. Richard has posted a page of MP3s right here on the site. Now when you click on Sound effects, you can get your Krakathoom tunage via the Internet, free of charge. At that point, all of those skeptics who have been saying Krakathoom wouldnt be able to give its music away will be proved catastrophically wrong. I hope.
2. Richard has also scouted out a possible venue for us. Every Thursday in July and half of June will be Band in the Park night at a local park. Richard has already talked to the organizer, and it looks like well probably get a slot. And perhaps even a small fee. This is such a great idea, Im thinking about writing a letter to the city council asking them to name the park after Richard. Ill let you know how that turns out.
3. Jeremy knows a guy who knows a guy who is in charge of organizing the new New Band Night at the legendary Lees Liquor Lounge. As required by federal law, LLLs New Band Night is going to be on Tuesdays. Im pretty excited about this. Lees is a very cool space, with acres of dance floor and Grain Belt Premium that flows like water, both of which operate in favor of any band performing there. I cant speak for the other guys, but the thought of Krakathoom playing on the same stage where I once saw Kelly Willis perform makes me positively giddy. Of course, it also makes me kind of sad for Kelly Willis. Maybe its a little disingenuous of us to bill ourselves as a new band when weve been playing together for over four years, but hey, were new to most people. Furthermore, I dont care.
Practice last week went okay, even though we didnt really find our groove until we played the Buffy theme. Maybe we should have played that first. Instead, we started out the evening by pretending to be a jam band. Dont worry, were not likely to pull that again where someones likely to hear us. Jeremy has yet another brand new song that he introduced and we went through a couple of times. It rocks. Big surprise. We talked a little more about what were going to be playing at the wedding in September, but since thats four months away theres not a big sense of urgency yet in that department. Give us until next week.
