Step Into Our Time Machine
The light to the future's green

Well, we’re back, and we’re pretty tired from our month-long, nationwide media junket for The Time Machine. It’s pretty exciting to have recorded the title song from a film that debuted at number one. It would be even more exciting if the song was actually heard at any point in the movie, or if anyone connected with it in any way had any idea who we were. We’d still be on the road now, but Ice Age knocked us out of the top spot. Besides, we’d pretty much made up our own itinerary without telling anyone about it and we got tired of people throwing us out all the time. Oh, well. It’s good to be home.

Seriously, though, the fact that this site hasn’t been updated in a month might lead some people to believe that we haven’t been doing anything for the past month. In this case, those people would be correct.

Last Wednesday was our first band meeting since February. It wasn’t a rehearsal so much as a second photo session. Our photographer showed up with lights, cameras, film, and her fiancé as an assistant. She shot a couple of rolls of film of us playing, posing, and playing while posing. We’ll see how they turn out. I’m hoping that soon we’ll be able to have not only an 8 x 10 glossy for the press kit, but photos on the web site. We’ve been getting e-mails from fans about the lack of band photos around here (okay, one e-mail from one fan), and it would be nice to rectify that. If not, maybe we could just paste up some of these.

In return for the photo session, we’re going to be playing at our photographer’s wedding in September. I have to give her credit for wanting us to play even after hearing what we sound like when we’ve skipped a month’s worth of practice.

The KrakaTomb is still under construction, so we’re continuing to use the practice space. Much to our surprise, it appears to be undergoing some remodeling of its own. The owner put in a new sink, and another tenant is leaving, so that gives us a lot more room. It ended up being a slightly less gritty-looking backdrop for our photos, but it’ll be a nicer place to rehearse.

It looks like we’re going to be there several more weeks. Apparently the next major phase in the KrakaTomb project is laying the carpet. Damn, I didn’t know we were getting carpet. Actually, the renovation project is what’s behind the occasional website outages we’ve been having over the past few weeks. As has been mentioned, the Krakathoom website’s server is located in the KrakaTomb, where it has occasionally been necessary to throw a few circuit breakers in order to proceed with the work down there. So if you’ve been having trouble accessing the site, rest assured that it’s not a software issue.

Here’s a quick rundown on the progress we’ve made in other areas since last we met:

T-shirts: None.
Stickers: None
Demo CD: None

Also, I’m a little bummed that we never got to meet Guy Pearce.
