The KrakaTome
On Krak : The KrakaTome : Less Rock, More Talk Less Rock, More Talk Coming to a semi-abandoned basement near you Thursday, February 7 2002, 04:07 PM
We moved our stuff into the temporary practice space last night. We dig it. It has character. Were going to do our band photo shoot there.
Matt from Barbeau met us there and let us in, then gave us the grand tour and made us feel right at home. The space actually has two rooms, with Barbeaus gear set up in the back one. The other room already had two drum kits set up in it, so by the time Pete got his drums set up in between them, the place looked like Neil Pearts basement. It took us a little time to figure out the best configuration for the new space, and its going to take us a little more time to figure out the right sound levels for the acoustics in this room. Also, were still working on the best places to plug everything in without popping circuit breakers. Primarily, though, were grateful to Barbeau for allowing us a place to practice while the KrakaTomb is being remodeled. Yay, Barbeau! You should go see one of their gigs, because God knows they play a hell of a lot more of them than we do.
Rob was there last night. He forgot his harmonica, unfortunately, but he was there to help us schlep equipment and talk business. Were on the verge of ordering stickers and t-shirts. Richards doing the designs for both. I think were pretty well decided on the stickers, both design- and vendor-wise. The T-shirt thing is still getting narrowed down, though. We could be ordering both as soon as next week. The press kit is still coming together. The bio is done, as is the band letterhead (or Krakhead as I like to call it) and Jeremys still working on getting a clean demo CD. As far as the photo, Robs going to bring his camera to practice in a couple of weeks and take pictures then. That will include individual photos for the bio pages on the website, so well have to be sure to look extra pretty. Im practicing my Derek Zoolander poses even as I type this.
After Rob left, we had about an hour of serious rocking time left. Jeremy has a new song that he introduced. We went through it a couple of times. Its good, but Richard and I arent sure yet what were doing on it. Then just played through a random assortment of songs, with little incident aside from popping a circuit breaker during Frog. Our overall sound left a little to be desired. Its hard to tell how much of that was due respectively to a) the unfamiliar acoustics in the room, b) the fact that we hadnt played plugged in for almost two months, and c) the omnipresent First-Full-Rehearsal-After-A-Gig Curse. Well, at least next week well be able to eliminate c).
