Krakawhom?
A CD? A gig? Two practices in a week? Lyrics for the song without lyrics? Who are these people?
Thursday, November 29 2001, 04:12 PM

We’re back. We aren’t exactly ready for the gig on Saturday, but that’s okay because it’s been pushed back to the following week.

Last night we practiced using the setlist that Jeremy drafted last week while we were off. Going straight through, then playing a couple of songs we wanted to add, took us about an hour and twenty minutes, which we thought was a little long. So we’re dropping “Martyrs & Devils” and a couple of the covers. The set should come out to about an hour once we’ve eliminated the need to stop in the middle of songs because of screwups.

Which is actually possible, because we have two practices left before the gig. We’re meeting this weekend in addition to next Wednesday. This is good because we’re playing four, count ‘em, four new original songs, plus two new covers we’ve never played for an audience before. So if you’re planning to come to the gig and expecting the same ole, same ole Krakathoom, we’ve got some surprises for you.

For instance, we’ll have copies of the demo. That’s right, Jeremy has finished mixing the six songs for the demo CD. It’s still got some rough spots and we could probably stand to redo some of the vocal harmonies, but it represents the first time you can stick a CD in your player and hear sweet, sweet Krakathoom come from your speakers. Unless you count the recording from the party in August, which wasn’t particularly sweet. We’ll be giving away copies at the gig next weekend, so get there early.

Another thing we have that we didn’t have before is lyrics to Jeremy’s poignant song without words. In other words, it’s no longer the poignant song without words; it’s “Two Rivers.” It’s still poignant, though. You’ll hear it if you come to the gig.

It’s surprising how short this entry is, given how much is going on. We’ll have more for you in a few days, though.
