On Krak : The KrakaTome : Krakathoom on CD Krakathoom on CD You heard me. Thursday, October 25 2001, 04:05 PM
Last night we heard something for the first time: Krakathoom on CD!
Jeremy had a rough mix of Polaroid that he brought and played for us. It sounds pretty damn cool. Richards vocals are mixed a little too loud and I missed a note at the end, but its very nice to hear a recording of ourselves without the whole live-and-muddy sound we normally get. Jeremys still working on it. He also has all the parts recorded for Boomtown and One More Day, so Im guessing well hear what those sound like soon. I mentioned to Richard that maybe, since we do have a song recorded in digital format, he could post it on the site as an MP3. He said he probably would if he had the time. Apparently Richards day job has gotten a lot busier. If you want him to spend more time on this site, youre just going to have to outbid his boss.
After we listened to our soon-to-be hit single and marveled at our own fabulosity, we did some actual live playing. It had been two weeks since our most recent, and frankly not terribly impressive, rehearsal. However, we sounded a lot better than last time. I cant really explain why that is, but Ill try. I think its because the settings on the head somehow got changed so that our vocals sounded decent without all kinds of piercing feedback. You have no idea how much easier it is to sing when you can hear yourself. I wasnt even hoarse after My Own Worst Enemy like I usually am. I was so happy with the mic settings (and not just mine) that I suggested we write them down. Except I dont think we got around to that. Erm. I think it also helped that Pete was playing quieter. All I know is that when we did Boomtown, those three-part harmonies sounded like there were a hell of a lot more than three of us singing.
There was also a very brief discussion about album titles. That might be classified, though.
The funny thing is that since we had to be out of there by 8:30, we sort of had a plan for things we wanted to get to. The plan included listening to the CD (its still cool), playing Revolution Day, Jeremys-poignant-song-that-still-doesnt-have-words, One More Day, and Polaroid. Then Jeremy debuted a new song hed written (kind of a retro thing) and we started learning a new cover (Im not telling what song yet) and we still had all this time to kill. So we did that. We killed that time dead.
I dont know yet what the plan is for next week. Or maybe I do, and Im just teasing you to make sure you come back to the band journal to find out what happens next.
Oh, phooey, who am I kidding?
