Songs in the Key of Pete
The title has nothing to do with the entry. It's just something we kept saying.

October 9 was the first time in 27 days that Krakathoom’s Power of Four came together. After such a hiatus, the results were about what you’d expect. Four weeks of not playing together can be alarmingly effective in atrophying a band’s tightness. It’s not that any one of us was screwing up, it’s just that we weren’t particularly together. I’m optimistic that we can get it back though, once we return to a more regular practice schedule. Just the fact that we were tighter when we stopped at 9:00 than we were when we started at 7:00 is cause for hope. Also, I don’t know about anyone else, but I really need to practice more outside of band.

Not much to report, really. Jeremy’s song (we’re calling it “poignant” rather than “sad” now) still doesn’t have words. We worked on “Revolution Day.” Jeremy and I are still trying to figure out how to do the backup vocals on the chorus. I’m not sure yet what Richard wants, but I think that what Jeremy and I are doing isn’t it. At least not yet. Maybe we can wear him down. We did our obligatory run-through of “Boomtown,” which was a lot better than we had any right to expect given the way the rest of the practice went. Then something happened with Richard’s acoustic guitar and we moved on.

Jeremy's run into a bit of trouble recording his parts. Apparently, he upgraded his PC to run Windows 2000 and now the sound won't work. Apparently Jeremy's talents don't extend to being able to edit and mix music than he can't hear. Yes, I know Beethoven kept composing even after he went deaf. But if Jeremy were Beethoven, he probably wouldn't be playing in a band with us. 'Cause, you know, he'd be dead. On the other hand, Beethoven wouldn't be able to fix a computer, and Jeremy probably will. So there's that.

Speaking of fixing computers, the website has been up continuously for like three weeks now! How cool is that? Why aren’t you posting on the message board, dammit? It's just sitting there, waiting for you to bring it to life!
