Every ten years or so, a band comes along that abruptly changes the face of music, sweeping aside less deserving usurpers of the public ear and demanding attention by virtue of the irresistible force of its own undeniable genius. Now, ten years after Nirvana and forty years after the Beatles, Krakathoom is not that band.

Songwriter/guitarists Richard Mueller and Jeremy Wikre, bassist Jeff Alexander, and drummer Pete McDonnell comprise a musical outfit of astounding versatility as they swap instruments, vocal duties, and musical styles with suicidal abandon. The result is an ever-expanding range of songs which represents everything from punk to bluegrass, from acoustic meditations to power pop, from intricately-crafted compositions to utter crap.

Originally formed in 1998 (and joined by McDonnell the following year), Krakathoom has survived numerous changes of its name and lineup, and today enjoys sustained and remarkable success at avoiding recording contracts, world tours, and screaming crowds. Tragic descent into alcohol and drug abuse remains well beyond the foreseeable future. Currently the band is independently recording their debut CD, an untitled project of undetermined length to be made available when they.re finished with it. Based in their Minneapolis rehearsal/recording/performance space, the KrakaTomb, Krakathoom pride themselves on being on a first-name basis with all of their fans.

Krakathoom is also available for weddings, but only if they like you.
